Thank you for your interest in the Europulp/Utipulp 2019 Event.

On Thursday, 12 September 2019, around 350 executives from the pulp & paper sectors, representatives from banks, indexes and other associations took part to Europulp/Utipulp’s seminar and dinner.
Many participants stayed in town for most of the week and attended pre-organized business meetings and corporate events.
Europulp hopes that guests had a fruitful and interesting time and looks forward to have such a numerous turnout next year as well!

Prof. Pedro Videla - Professor of Economics at IESE Business School University of Navarra

Pedro Videla is professor in the Economics Department and the holder of IESE’s Banco Sabadell Chair of Emerging Markets. He holds a Ph.D. and an MA in economics, both from the University of Chicago, and a commercial engineering degree in economics from the Universidad Católica de Chile.

His areas of specialization include macroeconomics, international economies and emerging economies. As a consultant Prof. Videla has been involved in projects with institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, EU, the Inter American Development Bank, and the USAID.

Mikael Selling - Founding Partner & Corporate Advisor

Co-founder of Opticom in the year 1987. Mikael Selling has been an advisor to the global forest industry more than 30 years focusing on strategic marketing, customer insights & satisfaction, complex value chains, business development, branding and marketing research.

He is a regular speaker on forest, pulp, paper and packaging issues at conferences and corporate events.

Mikael has authored several published articles on industry developments and is member of the board of directors at Swedish Pulp and paper Technology group. He is based in Stockholm.

Brian McClay Brian McClay & Associates, Inc.

Brian McClay is the principal consultant at Brian McClay & Associates Inc., a privately-held pulp and paper competitive intelligence consultancy based in Montreal, Canada.

Brian established the company in 1997 after a long career at the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association (CPPA).

He is also Chairman of Trade Tree Online, a US-based, Price Reporting Agency and a partner in PIG (Pulp Info Global), the smartphone APP for the pulp business.

During 1995-1999 Brian served as Head of Canada’s Delegation to ISO’s Environmental Labeling Subcommittee and he chaired the multi-stakeholder committee that developed the Environmental Profile Data Sheet (EPDS) – the world’s first industrial type-3 Environmental Label.

In 1997 he was a member of Canada’s official delegation to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) and on Canada’s delegation to the WTO Ministerial Conference.

Mr. João Cordeiro - Senior Principal at Pöyry Management Consulting based in Finland

João has 25 years of management consulting experience in the pulp & paper industry and a dedicated career on corporate strategy and business intelligence. João’s client’s portfolio includes global pulp, paper, tissue and packaging companies.

Tom Wright - Managing Director, Hawkins Wright Ltd

After training as an accountant, Tom joined Hawkins Wright in 1998. He undertakes most of the private client consultancy assigments on a wide range of topics related to the pulp and paper sector. He is the co-author of the Outlook for Market Pulp and makes regular contributions to Pulpwatch. He is the principal author of the Asian multi-client studies.

Defining the China Market for Pulp Paper & Board enjoys industry-wide recognition and is now in its eighth year of publication.

KEVIN MASON - Managing Director, Paper and Forest Products – ERA Forest Products Research

Kevin Mason is the Managing Director of ERA Forest Products Research, which provides economic and investment research on the forest-product industry to over 150 clients in Canada, United States, Europe and Asia. The firm’s clients include leading forest-products companies and governments, as well as a wide variety of institutional investors managing both equity and debt.

Starting his career in finance, Mr. Mason progressed through various banking positions. In 1997, he joined ERA and proceeded to attain the chartered Financial Analyst designation.

His focus at ERA Forest Products Research has been to enhance and expand the company’s analysis of global industry dynamics and to provide investment coverage on various Canadian, U.S. and European companies for a diverse client base.
